Calibration of the Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Instrument (GMI) Based on a Digital Calibration Field Network

The Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Instrument (GMI), carried by Gaofen 5 (GF5-01), and the Hyperspectral Observation Satellite (GF5-02) were successfully launched on 9 May 2018, September 7, 2021, respectively, are only passive greenhouse gas payloads in China that can regularly obtain effective detection data in-orbit at this stage. Before launch, research team out much laboratory calibration work designed an on-board system based solar radiation sources which guarantees quantitative accuracy of payload to greatest extent. In order more effectively meet high frequency requirements over whole life cycle payload, using on-track site method digital field network technology, obtained coefficient complements results. working principle GMI is quite different from a traditional imaging payload. Spatial heterodyne spectroscopy (SHS) used detect absorption spectrum gases, has large view non-imaging hyperspectral. existing fixed-site alternative methods cannot fully tasks. paper, we propose set global screening criteria characteristics design calculate coefficients non-absorption spectral channels according hyperspectral data. Based historical observation GMI, initial calculation launch was out, results four obtained: range O2 channel 1.05–1.15, mean value 1.10 standard deviation 2.72%; CO2-1 1.05–1.13, 1.09 2.64%; CH4 1.08–1.10, 1.11 2.73%; CO2-2 1.09–1.14, 1.12 2.93%. above show performance each shows no significant attenuation during period, fluctuation operation state stable.
